Holiday Short

The New Year has begun.  The Christmas holidays are over.  Nearly all of the decorations have been put away.  (The lights and the outside wreath are still up.)  Looking back, I feel we were lucky to have had a wonderful Christmas Day, getting together with our college daughter and two of our other married children and their spouses.

We weren't sure what was going to happen, being only the parents, but the children made arrangements and talked to each other, and we were able to get together, open gifts, go off to see The Hobbit,  play games and eat dinner.

Well, some of us played games.  I watched the games and kept an eye on part of the dinner cooking, and my husband tried to open the 90 lb. safe one son and his wife gave him for Christmas.

It has been fun to see the lengths my husband will go to to collect information and tools to open that safe.  Who knows if he will actually succeed?  He always liked to figure out bike lock combinations, until you just used a key.   That young man actually asked the guy selling safes if he had one without the combination to open it.  He did, and voila, now it is in our study.

I'll bet none of you got a locked, heavy safe for Christmas.
