My Mother was a big fan of Board Games. We played CLUE, SORRY, SCRABBLE, MONOPOLY, and others that have since fallen by the wayside, UNCLE for instance.
She would change the rules to make them easier for us to play.
In SORRY everyone starts with a man out, no waiting for a 1 or a 2 or a SORRY card.
She would use two dice to roll in CLUE so it wouldn't take as long to get from room to room.
In MONOPOLY she would deal out the properties at the beginning of the game and then we could buy them from one another instead of from the bank. Our Tax money was put on the Free Parking space and if you landed there you got the money. Once I remember the Bank ran out of money!
In SCRABBLE she declared the person with the longest word would start the game, so we'd have plenty of letters to build off of. We also counted the extra score squares every time we hooked on so we'd end up with High scores.
CAREERS did not need any tweaking. It was one of her favorites. We just wrote down our life goals and went in and out of the careers until someone won.
CLUE game boards have had at least three printings. The second printing had fabric, leather, wallpaper, and crochet patterns for the rooms. The Conservatory was the same wallpaper Mom had chosen for our parents' bedroom. It was such a pretty silvery blue pattern. One of my daughters has asked for that particular CLUE game because she remembers that wallpaper.
Today, I'm remembering my Mother!

ReplyDeleteTo upload a picture when you're typing a post, click on the icon at the top of your posting box that is to the right of the word "link." A window will pop up and it will have several options on the left. The "upload" option will have a button for you to push that says "choose files." This means you pick a file from your own computer to upload.
Now let's say you find a picture of this Clue board online that you like. You'd right click the picture with your mouse and select "copy URL." On your blog posting page when you're uploading a picture, you would select "From a URL" and then paste the URL into the box that says "Paste an image URL here."
A blue outline will surround your pictures and you can push the "add selected" button at the bottom of the box. The pictures you had selected will then appear in your post editing box. It takes some "playing around" with to figure out how the pictures behave in a post.
